Why I Support Mike Huckabee for President - Part 2

Sanctity of Life

I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. My convictions regarding the sanctity of life have always been clear and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v. Wade should be over-turned.
I applaud the Supreme Court's recent decision in Gonzales v. Cathcart forbidding the gruesome practice of partial birth abortion. While I am optimistic that we are turning the tide in favor of life, we still have many battles ahead of us to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and so it is vital that we elect a pro-life President.
I first became politically active because of abortion, when I helped pass Arkansas' Unborn Child Amendment, which requires the state to do whatever it legally can to protect life.
As Governor, I did all I could to protect life. The many pro-life laws I got through my Democrat legislature are the accomplishments that give me the most pride and personal satisfaction.
To me, life doesn't begin at conception and end at birth. Every child deserves a quality education, first-rate health care, decent housing in a safe neighborhood, and clean air and drinking water. Every child deserves the opportunity to discover and use his God-given gifts and talents.
I believe in using existing stem cell lines for research, but I do not believe in creating life for the sole purpose of destroying it.

No candidate has a stronger record on the sanctity of life than I do. I have always been actively and aggressively pro-life. I first became politically active when I helped pass Arkansas' Unborn Child Amendment, which requires the state to do whatever it can to protect life.

As Governor, I used that Amendment to pass pro-life legislation. The many pro-life laws I got through my Democrat legislature are the accomplishments that give me the most pride and personal satisfaction. I banned partial birth abortion, I required parental notification, I required that a woman give informed consent before having an abortion, I required that a woman be told her baby will experience pain and be given the option of anesthesia for her baby, I allowed a woman to have her baby and leave the child safely at a hospital, and I made it a crime for an unborn child to be injured or murdered during an attack on his mother.

What I accomplished as Governor proves that there is a lot more that a pro-life President can do than wait for a Supreme Court vacancy, and I will do everything I can to promote a pro-life agenda and pass pro-life legislation. If I'm saddled with a Democrat Congress, I'll veto any pro-abortion legislation they pass. I will staff all relevant positions with pro-life appointees. I will use the bully pulpit to change hearts and minds. I have no desire to throw women in jail, I just want us to stop throwing babies in the garbage.

To me, life doesn't begin at conception and end at birth. Every child deserves a quality education, first-rate health care, decent housing in a safe neighborhood, and clean air and drinking water. Every child deserves the opportunity to discover and use his God-given gifts and talents.

With respect to stem cells, I support federal funding of research using existing stem cell lines. I do not believe in creating life for the sole purpose of destroying it. I'm encouraged by recent discoveries showing that stem cells from the umbilical cord offer great promise.

Putin to EJC: Israel, Russia are 'partners' in facing Iran

In a meeting with European Jewish Congress leaders on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the two countries most threatened by Iran are Israel and Russia, and the two are "complete partners in this matter," according to EJC sources familiar with the meeting.

"The president [Putin] also said he will do everything in his power to continue to raise the issue in the upcoming Second Summit of Caspian States [beginning October 16 in Teheran]," the source said.

Earlier Wednesday, following a meeting between Putin and French President Nicholas Sarkozy, Putin declared that there was a lack of "objective data" regarding an Iranian nuclear weapons plan, so "we proceed from a position that Iran has no such plans."

Even so, he said, "we are sharing our partners' concern about making all Iranian programs transparent."

Russia has opposed the US-led push for tougher sanctions against Iran and called for more checks and inspections of Iranian facilities by International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN nuclear watchdog, instead of an immediate third round of sanctions.

Asked about the discrepancy of apparent concern over an Iranian nuclear threat in the meeting with the EJC and the calmer tones prevailing in Putin's message to the international community, an EJC spokesman said the organization did not have an immediate comment on Putin's earlier declaration.

At the meeting, EJC President Moshe Kantor asked Putin "to bring his influence to bear on the Iranian President" since "Iran is the major state supporter of International terrorism. If Iran gains the ability to export nuclear weaponry to terror organizations, the danger and horror that awaits the world is immense." The Kremlin meeting also discussed anti-Semitism, where the EJC praised the Russian government's work to combat the phenomenon in Russia. According to the EJC, Putin "committed himself to using the full force of the law to bring to account people who perpetrate such acts." In particular, the Jewish umbrella organization heard "positive" responses from several Russian leaders, including Putin, regarding the formal commemoration of International Holocaust Memorial Day in Russia. The day, which falls on January 27, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz in 1945, is marked officially in Germany, Poland, the UK, Denmark and elsewhere, and was adopted this year by the UN.

Putin is a "crock." Just exactly when did Iran threaten Russia? Let's see, Ahmadinejad has threatened to destroy the "Big Satan;" does Putin really think this is Russia? Greensburg, Kansas, Approximately 5 Months After Tornado

Although pictures do not do the destruction justice, I felt compelled to share these photos I took on September 27. These people and this town need our help. I ask, if you are close to Greensburg, Kansas take the time to go there and spend some money for something to help the town rebuild.
These people still need our prayers!

(Washington, D.C., October 9, 2007) -- As the U.S.-sponsored Mideast peace summit approaches next month, a senior aide to Israeli Prime Minister Olmert is actually suggesting his government is now open to the previously unthinkable prospect of dividing their capital city of Jerusalem.

"Wouldn't it be the right deal today for the Palestinians, the Western world and the international community to recognize (Israel's) annexation of...(Jewish) neighborhoods as part of Jerusalem, and for us to quit the Arab neighborhoods?" Vice Premier Haim Ramon told Israel Radio.

Reuters reported that Ramon "made the comments as Israeli and Palestinian negotiators opened talks at a secret location in Israel over a joint document they hoped to present at a U.S.-sponsored conference on Palestinian statehood." A spokesman for Olmert later called speculation that the government would divide Jerusalem "baseless and untrue," but Ramon's comments were public and on-the-record which is what is fueling the enormous concern and speculation.

Opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu quickly and strongly denounced the government's talk of giving up control of Judea and Samaria (commonly known as "the West Bank") as well as East Jerusalem as dangerous and destabilizing, especially in light of the rising Hamas and Iranian threats to the Jewish State...."The unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon created an Iranian outpost -= from which Israel is being attacked -- in the North, and the unilateral pullout from Gaza created a second Iranian base in Gaza, 'Hamastan,'" Netanyahu said on the floor of the Knesset. "And now the government is planning a third withdrawal -- from Judea and Samaria -- that will lead to a third Iranian outpost....Giving Hamas half of Jerusalem will make the rest of Jerusalem unlivable. Giving up Judea and Samaria will transfer the areas controlling the coastal plain into the hands of Hamas, leading to Kassams…on Tel Aviv....according to the government's plans, Israel will pull back to the 67' borders. Obviously, this is the plan and any attempts to disguise it are futile. We are facing an exact replica of the government's plan at the Camp David summit in 2000....This is no way to make peace."

Netanyahu is right. This would be a stunning and misguided move, and one that would further divide the Israeli public at a time unity is desperately needed.

A recent poll found 63% of Israelis are opposed to dividing the Holy City. Even Olmert's cabinet is sharply divided on the issue.

"The issue of the division of Jerusalem is an inalienable asset of the state of Israel. Palestinian refugees will not be returned to Israel and Jerusalem will not be divided," said Transport Minister Shaul Mofaz, a former chief of staff and a member of the Prime Minister's own Kadima party.

Now is the time to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), not carve it up and serve it to the radical Islamic jihadists now in charge of the Palestinian Authority.

Qods Day is held each year on the last Friday of Muslims fasting month of Ramadan after it was nominated by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, as a day to voice the protest of the Islamic Ummah against the Zionists.

The day falls on October 12 this year.

"The US loses all opportunities to cooperate with regional and other world states by trying to support a regime (the Zionist regime) which is now at its weakest political and social position," Elham said.

He warned that Washington's insistence on its wrong policies and arrogant approaches would have no result "but further political disgrace" for itself.

Referring to the approaching World Qods Day, the spokesman stressed, "Supporters of the Zionist regime will definitely receive the final response for their support on that day."

This morning the Houston Chronicle is reporting that Russian President Vladimir Putin may have found a way to remain in control of the Russian government. This would be done by after leaving the Presidential office he would run for Prime Minister. It's an interesting article and you should take the time to read it.

I believe that it points to prophesy from Revelation. I believe that a new Tsar will rise and lead Russia in the war of Gog and Magog. If Putin retains control of Russia in any form it is a good indication that restoring the Tsar-dom is his goal.

I strongly recommend you take the time to read the Reverend Dr. John Hagee's book "Jerusalem Countdown." Other books of note on this subject and end times prophesy are "Epicenter" by Joel C. Rosenberg and "The Final Move: Beyond Iraq" by Mike Evans. Joel Rosenberg also has a series of fictional books that are eerily prophetic and well worth the read.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in Russia and the world.

New Poll Shows Mike Huckabee Gains Momentum in Iowa

Little Rock, AR - Former AR Governor and Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee today "welcomed news" that a new Des Moines Register poll ranks him No. 1 among registered Republican voters in Iowa who have "made up their mind" in the 2008 presidential election - and No. 3 among GOP candidates overall.

"This victory is really good news," said Huckabee about the October 7 poll of likely caucus participants. "This poll confirms that the field is wide open - and that my campaign continues to surge among likely voters."

Huckabee scored first among the voters (about one-fourth of those polled) who have made up their mind, with 19 percent, and third place among all potential Republican voters, with 12 percent. The former Arkansas governor also scored very well among religious conservatives, coming in third with 18 percent.

Huckabee has surged since his strong showing in the Aug. 11 Iowa Republican Party Straw Poll. Support for the other GOP presidential contenders who were included in a Des Moines Register poll taken last May has essentially flat-lined or eroded.

"Voters in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina - and all across America - are looking for a strong conservative leader with a consistent message, results-driven record and positive vision for America's future," said Huckabee. "This new poll reflects what we're feeling on the ground: that my campaign is on an upward trajectory in Iowa and other key battleground states."

Limbaugh

Once again the liberal media and liberal members of Congress are after a conservative... Rush Limbaugh.

I am not a great fan of Limbaugh and rarely listen to him on the radio but I have heard the telephone conversation he had on the air that has stirred up this controversy. During the conversation the term "phony soldier" was used to describe a man who had served 40 days in the military, had never seen action and was claiming to be a veteran. Sorry, I think this guy is a "phony soldier."

The Congressional Democrats and liberal media are now claiming that Limbaugh said "phony soldiers" referring to all military veterans. Obviously, they are speaking from the "left" side of their mouths and have not listened to what was actually said.

Many of the same Democrats that are criticizing him are the very ones who have made statement claiming that our soldiers couldn't bring stabilization to certain areas of Iraq, that the war lords have brought it. I certainly don't think that kind of statements are supporting our troops.

I know enough about Limbaugh to know that he supports our troops and veterans and have listened enough to know that he has repeatedly vocalized his support numerous times. Thank goodness Clear Channel Communications (the station owner) is standing behind him.

This is just another round of the liberals trying to get conservation talk show hosts off the air and controlling what we, as citizens, hear and think. This is just one more reason why I continue to say...

Don't re-elect incumbents!

Ahmadinejad’s Psychological Warfare

In the spirit of universal horror and revulsion at the Holocaust, the U.N. was founded in 1945 by war-torn nations hoping to at last establish a foundation for world peace based on human rights. Why would a man who denies the Holocaust and declares that “With the force of God behind, we shall soon experience the world without the United States of Zionism” be allowed a forum to further insult the American people? Since 2005, Iran has threatened to bomb the State of Israel and Iraqi bases saying it has locked on its 600 Shahab missiles.

Advanced Iranian weapons are pouring into Afghanistan and Iraq and are being used to kill American troops, i.e. the Misagh-1, a portable surface-to-air missile with an infrared guided system; the RPG-29 rocket-propelled grenade; 240mm rockets; and EFPs (explosively formed penetrators), armor-piercing roadside bombs.

Why would Mahmoud Ahmadinejad want to manipulate and utilize the American media as a means to reach his goal? The simple answer is found in the statement he made on “60 Minutes,” that he was waging psychological warfare. Writing this article from the fifth floor of the Intercontinental Hotel in New York City, Ahmadinejad’s “Ground Zero” for his psychological warfare, is an eerie feeling. I have held many meetings with his diplomats; it has become quite clear that they will not permit their reality to be distorted with the facts.

Osama bin Laden told Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, that fifty percent of the war on terror was a media war. Israel’s President Peres told me that, in fact, it is ninety percent. Ahmadinejad understands how to manipulate the media to fight the war on terror and win it. He is doing precisely that.

Columbia University, the U.N., and the liberal Left media are playing into his hands by providing a platform which grants him world legitimacy. This terrorist presides over a fascist state known for its blatant support of terror, arrests men whose hair is deemed too long, and even worse, supports the death penalty for gays. The absurdity at Columbia is that the university has banned the ROTC from its campus because the ROTC would not support the “don’t ask, don’t tell” gay military policy. Yet, a man responsible for murdering gays is welcome.

The head of the Minuteman organization’s request for a meeting at Columbia over the immigration issue was cancelled. Now, a murderer and the man who has replaced Osama bin Laden as head of the “A” team of terror, the man who controls billions of dollars and tens of millions of people, and the head of several terror sub-contractors in the Middle East (HAMAS, Hezbollah, the Mahdi Army), has been granted a privileged visa.

Why did Ahmadinejad want to visit Ground Zero? It was certainly not to show his sympathy for suffering Americans; it was to exploit Ground Zero and use the hallowed ground as an arena to wage psychological warfare. It was to be a platform to build his case on why he believed we were attacked. (Like his Holocaust denial, he also denies that America was attacked by al-Qaeda.)

Iran has experienced a severe crackdown on social behavior and dress; women are barred from smoking in public and from attending stadium events. The liberal Left media has become the carrier to spread the Ebola virus of terror. By playing into Ahmadinejad’s hands, the media has elevated him in the Middle East to the role of terrorist superstar defying the evil empire.

Ahmadinejad has become increasingly isolated at home and in the region because of his go-it-alone, ineffective policies. He is neither the head of state nor the commander in chief as Columbia University and the secular media claim; his support comes from the Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khameini, the supreme leader. His political strength depends on his ability to manipulate the media of the West for ideological purposes.

Iran’s President controls civil government in Iran, and holds the title, “Guardian of the Revolution.” The Iranian people have become so disillusioned that two of his ministers have resigned, the head of the central bank has resigned, and the chief judge criticized him for his mismanagement of the government. His effectiveness in manipulating the media of the West is responsible for the propagation of his ideological revolution. How shameful when Ahmadinejad could be easily ignored and marginalized. This would strengthen the hand of the Iranian people suffering under his fanatical fascist regime.

Ronald Reagan achieved that effectively by not allowing Yasser Arafat a privileged visa to enter the U.S. Ahmadinejad’s PR tour is an insult to the American families who have lost sons and daughters in Iraq and in Afghanistan compliments of Iran. It is an insult to the Bush Doctrine on Terror: "If you harbor terrorists, you are a terrorist. If you train terrorists, you are a terrorist. If you feed a terrorist or fund a terrorist, you’re a terrorist; and you will be held accountable by the United States and our friends.” Legitimizing Ahmadinejad effectively undermines the human rights organizations’ leaders in Iran that have suffered imprisonment and even death for daring stand up to him.

It’s hypocrisy to tell Mexicans that love America and only want to come here to work, “We are throwing you in jail; you don’t have a visa,” and provide a privileged visa to a terrorist/murderer who has threatened to wipe the State of Israel off the map and to send suicide bombers into the United States.

Ahmadinejad’s speech at the U.N. will be no different than his last two when he proclaimed that the “perfect human being” was coming; and asked that he “make us among his followers, and among us who strive for his return.” (September 2006) He truly believes that he is a 21^st century John the Baptist that will usher in this Twelfth Mahdi through an apocalypse. That is what prompted his 18-page letter to President Bush declaring, “Those with insight can already hear the sounds of the shattering and fall of the ideology and thoughts of the Liberal democratic systems.”

Ahmadinejad has an agenda; now he has a platform, thanks to the U.N., Columbia University and the liberal Left media.

Peres blasts U.S. school for hosting Iran leader

I absolutely agree with President Peres.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israeli President Shimon Peres on Tuesday criticized a U.S. university for hosting Iran's president, comparing the event to attempts to engage Adolf Hitler in dialogue before World War Two.

During his speech at Columbia University in New York on Monday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's attacked Israel's treatment of the Palestinians and denied his country's nuclear program was aimed at building atomic weapons.

Ahmadinejad has come under international criticism for saying that Israel should be "wiped off the map" and has questioned whether the Nazi Holocaust that killed 6 million Jews actually took place.

Introducing the Iranian president, Columbia University President Lee Bollinger said Ahmadinejad behaved as a "petty and cruel dictator" and that his Holocaust denials suggested he was either "brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated".

Bollinger asked a string of pointed questions, most of which Ahmadinejad ignored in a speech that dwelt at length on science as a gift from God and the importance of using knowledge and learning purely and in a pious way.

But Peres said Columbia's invitation to the Iranian leader did not fall under the umbrella of free academic expression because Ahmadinejad "simply stood up and lied".

"I think that Columbia University made a mistake ... With Hitler there was a dialogue. (British Prime Minister Neville) Chamberlain went to talk to him. What did it help? It helped cover the fact that Hitler prepared concentration camps and death camps," Peres told Reuters.

Israeli government officials have long invoked memories of World War Two in lobbying against Iran, generally as part of appeals for the West not to allow a "second Holocaust".

"I don't accept the university's explanations, because if a university is a platform where lies are permissible, then it is not academic ... So all of yesterday's show was wretched," Peres said.

Israel, which is believed to have the Middle East's only atomic arsenal, has hinted it could resort to military strikes to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear weapons, but says it favors economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Ahmadinejad at Columbia University

First of all I believe with all my heart that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a terrorist, murderer, an anti-Christ (not the anti-Christ) and is a danger not only to Israel and the United States, but to the entire world.

The President of Columbia University, Lee Bollinger, just delivered a blistering welcoming speech to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He challenged Ahmadinejad to numerous things, including challenges to his intelligence.

Ahmadinejad protested the speech and proclaimed the truthfulness of what he was going to say. Of course, so much of what he had to say was blatant and obvious lies.

Many have said that we should be open to listening to what he says, after all it is American and we believe in freedom of speech. I wholeheartedly believe in freedom of speech, but not for this evil individual.

Of those who believe Ahmadinejad should be allowed freedom of speech, where were you when Don Imus was censored? At least Imus is an American citizen. The claim was that what Imus said was offensive to a lot of people and prejudicial.

Well, what Ahmadinejad had to say was offensive to me and a lot of other citizens of this country. He is prejudiced again Jews, women and anyone in his country who speaks against him. Someone explain to me the difference!

The only saving graces to this escapade is that Mr. Bollinger pointedly exposed Ahmadinejad for what he really is; and he danced around issues like the Holocaust, freedom of speech and women's rights in Iran. Oh, and he also declared that Iran doesn't have the "phenomenon" of homosexuality. Give me a break!

I do agree with Presidential candidate Mitt Romney that Ahmadinejad should have been arrested the minute he entered this county. I also agree with Presidential candidate Fred Thompson that he shouldn't have been allowed in this country.

One thing I do think should have been done differently since we was allowed in this country... the entire security detail provided by the U.S. should have been made up of Jewish agents and police officers. Wouldn't that have made Mahmoud quiver in his loafers?

The facts are: Hillary's main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says: Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children's rights project for poor kids. The facts are: Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says: Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers. The facts are: She flunked the DC bar exam and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm after Bill became Attorney General and made partner only after he was elected governor.

Bill says: President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman. The facts are: The appointment was in exchange for Bill's support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter's choice to be chairman.

Bill says: She served on the board of the Arkansas Children's Hospital. The facts are: Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Wal-mart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says: Hillary didn't succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance. The facts are: Hillary had nothing to do w ith creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals' tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says: Hillary was the face of America all over the world. The facts are: Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says: Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children's and women's issues. The facts are: Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation. One set up a national park in Puerto Rico. A second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer's or other conditions. And two were routine bills to aid 9-11 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton. She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country (that's you and me!) when it comes to the war on terror.

She wants to close GITMO and move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to our legal system.
She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al Qeada phone calls to/from the USA.
She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.
She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qaeda cells and supporters in the USA.
She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military and CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

I can't think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment he has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror. But, I can think of a lot of comments she has made that weakens our country and makes it a more dangerous situation for all of us........She goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned.
She is a disaster for all Americans.

Arabs push through nuclear vote against Israel

Arab states on Thursday pushed through a resolution at the UN atomic agency clearly aimed at Israel, calling for a Middle East free of nuclear weapons.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted an Egyptian-sponsored resolution on a nuclear weapons-free-zone in the Middle East with Israel and the US voting against and EU states except Ireland abstaining.

Lets see the Arab states get Iran to cease all nuclear activities including sharing those activities with Syria.

Egypt's attempt is noble, but useless and deceitful. To make the resolution effective Russia is going to have to participate by ceasing their nuclear activities with Iran and the EU is will have to take a stand on the issue. Obviously, the EU is too scared to that.

WASHINGTON — The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed a measure condemning MoveOn.org for a newspaper ad it ran last week attacking Gen. David Petraeus. The move came as President Bush accused Democrats of cowering to the liberal political action group.

The measure passed in a 72-25 vote, with none of the Democratic presidential candidates supporting it. Sponsored by Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn, never one to shy away from forcing Democrats to go on record on politically sticky issues, the amendment to the defense authorization bill did win the backing of 23 Democrats.

Sens. Joe Biden and Barack Obama were absent from the vote, though Obama had voted 20 minutes earlier on a Democratic effort to circumvent the amendment. Sens. Hillary Clinton and Chris Dodd voted against the measure.

The amendment did not specifically name MoveOn.org, but expressed "the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, commanding general, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn(s) personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces."

But supporters made clear the measure was about MoveOn, and was aimed at giving senators "a chance to distance themselves from the notion that some group has them on a leash, like a puppet on a string."

"Who would have ever expected anybody to go after a general in the field at a time of war, launch a smear campaign against a man we've entrusted with our mission in Iraq?" Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell asked on the Senate floor. "Any group that does this sort of thing ought to be condemned. Let's take sides. General Petraeus or MoveOn.org. Which one are we going to believe? Which one are we going to condemn?"

In response, MoveOn officials said the group was going to buy TV ad time to attack McConnell, R-Ky., and other senators who voted against a measure offered a day earlier by Democratic Sen. Jim Webb to require troops to have equal down time at home as they have deployed in war zones. The measure failed.

"No wonder public approval of Congress is tanking. They’re so out of touch with reality that they can find time to condemn an ad but they can't do what most Americans want — vote to end this war," said Eli Pariser, executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action.

The Senate vote followed a statement by Bush during a press conference at the White House in which he argued that Democrats are more concerned about riling MoveOn than about riling the U.S. military.

"I was disappointed that not more leaders in the Democrat party spoke out strongly against that kind of ad, and that leads me to come to this kind of conclusion: That most Democrats are afraid of irritating a left-wing group like MoveOn.org — are more afraid of irritating them — than they are of irritating the United States military. That was a sorry deal," the president said.

"And (it's) one thing to attack me. It's another thing to attack somebody like Gen. Petraeus," Bush said.

Pariser responded to the president, saying Bush lied about the cause for war in Iraq.

"What's disgusting is that the president has more interest in political attacks than developing an exit strategy to get our troops out of Iraq and end this awful war," Pariser said. "The president has no credibility on Iraq: he lied repeatedly to the American people to get us into the war. ... Right now, there are about 168,000 American soldiers in Iraq, caught in the crossfire of that country's unwinnable civil war, and the president has betrayed their trust and the trust of the American people."

Carter: Iran No Threat to Israel Now

"Iran is quite distant from Israel," said Carter, 83. "I think it would be almost inconceivable that Iran would commit suicide by launching one or two missiles of any kind against the nation of Israel."

Carter said unease between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank is a far greater threat to Israel's security than Iran. He criticized the Bush administration for not doing enough to broker peace in the region.

N.Y. nixes Ground Zero visit by Iran's leader

Ahmadinejad is absolutely nuts. Not only do I think he should not be allowed in the United States, I think he should be arrested if he sets foot on American soil. This man wants to "wipe Israel off the face of the earth" and "annihilate the United States." Why would George Bush even consider allowing him into this country? If the United Nations doesn't like it maybe they should move their headquarters to Tehran.

NEW YORK — A request by aides to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that the controversial leader be allowed to visit Ground Zero next week when he attends the United Nations' General Assembly meeting was rejected, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Ahmadinejad is one of hundreds of world leaders who will visit the city next week for the annual U.N. meeting. His request to visit the site where more than 2,700 people were killed when the World Trade Center was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, enraged politicians and officials who consider Iran a potential nuclear threat that harbors terrorists.

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, New York City's mayor during 9/11, denounced the Iranian's request, as did Republican rival Mitt Romney and Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton. Calls and e-mails to the Iranian mission to the United Nations were not answered.

New Ad: Did MoveOn.org "Betray Us?" FIGHT BACK!

ALERT: This week, the radical left-wing group MoveOn.org paid for a full-page ad in the New York Times attacking the character and leadership of General David Petraeus. The went so far as to accuse him of treason, by calling him General “Betray Us”:

Gen. Petraeus is an emblem of patriotism. He has willingly taken the mandate provided by the President of the United States and the U.S. Congress to serve his country in one of the most difficult missions in the world. Gen. Petraeus is admirably living up to an extremely complicated job of heading up a war effort in a dangerous region of the world. Legislators who voted unanimously to confirm Gen. Petraeus should live up to their duty to give this leader the resources and support that he needs to accomplish the mission entrusted to him.

Supporting Gen. Petraeus and U.S. troops includes condemning unwarranted attacks on the character of this good man -- something no national Democrat leader has been willing to do. The vicious attack on him, his commitment to the American people and the integrity with which he leads the Multi-National Force in Iraq ought to go down in history as a disgrace, and must be roundly repudiated from all quarters. It will be seen not only as a reprehensible criticism of Gen. Petraeus but, by extension, those who serve under him, all members of the United States Armed Forces. It is legitimate to ask tough questions of Gen. Petraeus on his testimony -- but NOT to question his patriotism -- OR the patriotism of every single member of the U.S. military.

According to the New York Post, “The New York Times dramatically slashed its normal rates” for the MoveOn.org ad, from $181,692 all the way down to $65,000 -- "a reduction of more than $116,000 from the stated rate.” Of course, when conservative groups like the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth or National Right to Life ask to run ads… they’re refused, according to the American Spectator!

The Politico reported that one anonymous Democratic Senator said, “No one wants to call [Petraeus] a liar on national TV. The expectation is that the outside groups will do this for us.” It’s obvious that MoveOn.org’s malicious assault on the honor of the commanding General of Coalition forces speaks for at least some Congressmen.

Do we just let them get away with this vicious attack? WE SAY NO.

WE MUST FIGHT BACK! Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) have introduced resolutions condemning MoveOn.org’s actions, but the Democrats in charge of Congress are BLOCKING those bills from even being voted on. We need to let our Representatives and Senators know that we won’t put up with these despicable partisan attacks any longer…

And we've got a GREAT way to do that!

TAKE ACTION: The leaders of MoveOn.org communicate on a near daily basis with senior Democratic members on Capitol Hill. This radical left-wing organization made it clear after the last presidential election that it now controls the Democratic Party. In 2004, they wrote in an email to their members:

“Now it's our party. We bought it. We own it. And we're going to take it back.”

It must be true -- not one single Democrat leader has condemned MoveOn.org for their outrageous actions!

There should be a full and honest debate on the war on terror. Americans can have that debate because the brave men and women in our military have fought and died to defend that right over the years. But hateful, personal attacks that call our military leaders traitors should be condemned.

After watching the video of this incident I am pretty convinced that this student was out of order but I also feel that the police over reacted. However, they probably over reacted on advise of Kerry's "people." They were probably saying "get this guy out of here."

Too many times the "important people" like politicians and celebrities feel they have the right to special considerations because of who they are.

Although the main stream media normally does not carry things like this it has been reported numerous times that Hillary Clinton has used her Secret Service officers to clear people when they have asked "tough" questions that she doesn't want to answer. This goes along with her reputation of having an out of control temper.

If politicians don't want to answer the "tough" questions, then they shouldn't be taking questions at their speeches and new conferences. I really think this student was attempting to hold Senator Kerry accountable and his people didn't like his questions and attitude.

Huckabee triumphs in ‘Value Voters’ straw poll

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) was the big winner of a straw poll of “value voters,” garnering 64 percent of the vote and easily beating all other GOP presidential hopefuls.

The poll of 340 delegates, who were handpicked by social conservative activists, followed a debate on issues important to many members of the Republican base.

The forum attracted only the so-called “second-tier” GOP candidates, with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.), Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney all skipping the event. Their absence was reflected in the poll results.

“We won huge,” Huckabee said. “I’m pleased, and proud, and honored to have this historic endorsement from America’s leading social conservatives who believe, as I do, in the core values which define American culture and life. This overwhelming vote affirms that conservatives are coalescing around one candidate and that candidate is me.”

Delegates were asked to cast a vote prior to the debate and at its conclusion, and the support for the first-tier candidates plunged. Thompson fell to below 5 percent from 15 percent, Giuliani dropped to just above 1 percent from 5 percent, McCain dipped to below 1 percent from 4 percent and Romney failed to garner a single vote after attracting about 4 percent prior to the debate.

“How can we expect these no-show candidates to take on Osama bin Laden and other world leaders when they’re afraid to show up and answer questions from Phyllis Schlafly?” Rabbi Aryeh Spero of the Jewish Action Alliance asked.

Added Rick Scarborough, the president of Vision America: “If you care about our votes, you need to care about our values enough to show up.”

The debate focused on abortion, national security, a marriage amendment and immigration.

Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) finished a distant second behind Huckabee, taking 16 percent of the vote.

Do you know where your Presidential candidate stands on the support and defense of Israel?

Based on Bill Clinton's actions don't expect Hillary to support and defend Israel. Bill Clinton was supportive of Yassar Arafat and the PLO and pretty much cold shouldered Israel during his entire two terms. Why would Hillary have a different opinion? Although I have asked what her stand is on Israel, I haven't had any response and there is nothing on her web site.

There is only one candidate that I have found that has taken a public stand on Israel. That candidate is Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. Do we want a President that will abandon Israel?

Norman Hsu, the disgraced Democratic fundraiser in custody after jumping his $2 million bail in San Mateo County last week, will be spending an additional week in a Colorado jail - unless he comes up with another $5 million.

"Two million wasn't enough to keep Mr. Hsu from running," County Court Judge Bruce Raaum said Thursday at a hearing in Grand Junction, Colo. "Let's see if $5 million will do it."

Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger had asked for $50 million bail, warning that Hsu is an obvious flight risk. Hsu skipped a San Mateo County court hearing last week on a grand theft conviction from the early 1990s, forfeiting his $2 million bail, and boarded an eastbound Amtrak train in Emeryville.

Hsu, 56, was taken off the train in Grand Junction after passengers reported he was behaving erratically and walking around without shirt or shoes.

Hautzinger also mentioned a purported suicide note Hsu sent last week to friends and charities he had supported, saying it showed that the businessman was "despondent and may hurt himself" if he is let out on bail.

A spokesman for Hsu confirmed the existence of the note, but declined to comment on the contents.

One copy of the note was sent by FedEx to the Manhattan office of the Innocence Project, an organization that uses DNA testing in an effort to free wrongly convicted people. Hsu was a financial supporter of the group.

A spokesman for the project declined to talk about the letter, which was passed on to Hsu's attorneys. Gareth Lacy, a spokesman for the California attorney general's office, which is handling Hsu's prosecution, confirmed that the office has received a copy of Hsu's letter, but would not comment further.

Hsu was not in the courtroom for Thursday's hearing, but appeared via a video link from the Grand Junction jail.

Hsu's attorney said the New York City businessman is eager to waive extradition and return to California, where he could face a three-year prison sentence in the grand theft case. The judge set his formal extradition hearing for Wednesday.

Of course, if Hsu does come up with the $5 million bail, he could walk out of the jail at any time with only a promise to show up at the hearing. He has had difficulty keeping such promises in the past.

After pleading no contest in a 1991 case in which he defrauded investors in what prosecutors described as a "Ponzi-type" scheme, Hsu didn't show up in Redwood City for his 1992 sentencing, reportedly fleeing to his native Hong Kong.

He returned to the United States several years later, went back into the clothing business and took up a highly visible role as one of the nation's leading Democratic fundraisers. Since writing a $2,000 check to Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry in 2003, Hsu has sent more than $600,000 to Democratic causes and candidates across the country.

He also funneled contributions from friends and business associates to party efforts, including more than $850,000 to New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign. After concerns arose that Hsu may have illegally reimbursed those donors for their contributions, Clinton decided to return the money that the businessman raised for her campaign.

Hsu turned himself in to face proceedings in the grand theft case Aug. 31, made bail and sought to have it lowered to $1 million, but failed to appear at a Sept. 5 hearing on the matter in Redwood City.

Once Hsu signs an extradition waiver in front of a judge, San Mateo County sheriff's deputies will head to Colorado to bring Hsu back, a process that can take up to seven days, said Lt. Lisa Williams, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

"General Petraeus is likely to become General Betray Us"

So says the MoveOn.org ad that ran in the New York Times at a price of $65,000. This represents a reduction in the rate for this type of ad in the New York Times of more than $116,000. A New York Times spokesperson has stated that, "the open rate for an ad of that size and type is $181,692. Obviously, the New York Times is a supporter of MoveOn.org.

Now, the question is, will the Times honor the same price for an ad placed my Rudy 2008 set to refute MoveOn.org's ad? By this time tomorrow we should know.

MoveOn.org is one of the largest contributors to Democratic Presidential candidates, especially Hilary Clinton. She is "beholden" to MoveOn.org and is nothing but their puppet.

Too many of our Congressional representatives and Presidential candidates have called General Petraeus a liar and want us to believe that they support our troops. Surely, we can see through these politically generated statements. Hilary has said that the General's reports are "impossible" to believe. Chuck Shumer has said our troops aren't capable of bring the peace, the warlords have done it. What patriotism!

Whether a person likes or dislikes George Bush should not affect supporting our troops. Congressional leaders are emulating Congressional leaders of the Vietnam era in trying to run the war from their offices in Washington DC. They want us to find non-traditional enemies with non-traditional beliefs with non-traditional goals in a "traditional" manor. One Congressional representative and Presidential candidate accuses our troops of "bombing and murdering civilians." I don't believe we are purposely doing that, but what does this candidate think happened to the United States on 11 September, 2001.

Stand up for our troops, support the troops and condemn those who don't!

Let me ask you a hypothetical question. What do you think America would do if Canadian soldiers were firing dozens of missiles every day into Buffalo, N.Y.? What do you think our response would be if Mexican troops for two years had launched daily rocket attacks on San Diego — and bragged about it?

I can tell you, our response would look nothing like Israel’s restrained and pinpoint reactions to daily missile attacks from Gaza. We would use whatever means necessary to win the war. There would likely be numerous casualties on our enemy’s side, but we would rightfully hold those who attacked us responsible.

More than 1,300 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza since Palestinians were given control two years ago. Israelis, however, have gone to incredible lengths to stop the war against them without harming Palestinian non-combatants. But make no mistake, Israel is at war.

The irony is that Israel has the military might to easily win the war that is being waged against them today. They haven’t used that might, in the past, out of compassion for Palestinian civilians and because it could trigger a wider regional conflict.

That balance of power is about to change, though. If Iran develops nuclear weapons, the very existence of this tiny nation of Israel will be threatened.

If the world doesn’t act to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions, it must be prepared for the consequences of Israel defending itself.

Israel spots nuclear facilities in Syria

Why isn't the mainstream media reporting on this? Why is the mainstream media prejudiced against Israel?

(WASHINGTON, D.C., September 12, 2007) -- The New York Times is reporting this morning that Israeli warplanes attacked a Syrian target last week, most likely Iranian arms being shipped through Syria to Hezbollah forces in Lebanon.

But the paper is also reporting something far more disturbing: Israel has recently "carried out reconnaissance flights over Syria, taking pictures of possible nuclear installations that Israeli officials believed might have been supplied with material from North Korea."

"The Israelis think North Korea is selling to Iran and Syria what little they have left," the official said.

Syria, meanwhile, is vowing to retaliate against Israel, accelerating the possibility of a horrific new war in the region, one that U.S. and Israeli officials have been concerned about for months.
Significantly, a North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman called Israel's strike in Syria "a very dangerous provocation little short of wantonly violating the sovereignty of Syria and seriously harassing the regional peace and security....The Democratic People's Republic of Korea strongly denounces the above-said intrusion and extends full support and solidarity to the Syrian people in their just cause to defend the national security and the regional peace."

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz notes that "the only countries that have expressed solidarity with Syria are Iran and North Korea," while "Russia issued a condemnation of sorts."
